Two days later..

Two days later she calls me. She again was kind and gently told me how sorry she was to inform me I had cancer in my uterus. She said she doesn’t want to wait on this and she was sending me to Froedtert Medical Center in Milwaukee. The referral was in and I’d hear from them soon. 

Within an hour Milwaukee called and also decided not to put off and got me in for that Monday. 

This is all happening so fast and I have yet to fully grasp it

The beginning

As most of you know I have been seeing a knee doctor for several years. Until I am healthy enough to get a knee replacement, i've been getting cortisone shots every 4-6 months.  I've been having trouble getting in to my normal knee doctor so my mom convinced me to see her knee doctor. Ultra sound June 6th

They scheduled my ultrasound for that same week. I was only expecting a regular ultrasound but when I got there I found it was also going to be scope ultrasound. That part sent fine. They told me I’d hear from the doctor within a week. On Friday June 13th, Stephanie, my nurse practitioner called. She first told me they found a mass in my uterus. Then she told me she emailed the results to the gyno to see if she wanted to see me sooner. Stephanie explained that sometimes doctor check their emails over the weekend and if that happened and he emailed her back, Stephanie would call me and let me know, even if it on Sunday.  She then pleaded with me to please not to google the information in my chart. Just wait until I spoke to the gyno.  As you suspected, I immediately googled the results.

Wednesday, June 18

The following Wednesday, the gyno called and got me in on the 18th.  She was young and had tattoos and was fun and I knew I was going to like her.  She explained a lot and said although they found a mass they have no idea where it is. Cervix cancer would not what we want. Uterine cancer would be a better prognosis. But in order to find out a biopsy would have to be done.  I had a choice to go to the hospital to be put to sleep and feel no pain, but results would take longer. So I could have it done in her office, right then. I’d be awake and it would be painful but I’d have results sooner.  I opted to have it done right then and there. I handled it fine. The pain was no joke but I was glad I didn’t wait.  She explained it would be 7 to 10 days for results and they would call me.
